An example of the power of physical media

I've always imagined the world of movie restoration would be like this : films from yesteryear rescued, reassembled or even recreated from disparate elements. One day the full version of Freaks and The Magnificent Ambersons might see the light of day, which I would rejoice in full. Up until then, this inaugural release of Vinegar Syndrome Pictures takes the films reels of the filmed-yet-never-finished New York Ninja, a film by John Liu from 1984 with no recorded sound, did a dubbing job, provided sound effects and music and released it to the public. All this considered, they did a great job and made this into a fun and absolutely bonkers film that provides laughs, action, acrobatics and surreal moments. All that and a 2nd disc full of extras too!

A marvel of film preservation

Excellent release of a movie that would have otherwise rotted in a storage unit somewhere in New Jersey. Well obviously not the original script. It still has the charm of a so bad it's good arture's work.

A martial arts comedy for the ages!!

Man, I took a long time to get this film, and I don't even know why I did this. New York Ninja is so damn fun. It feels like a "brother movie" to Miami Connection. Watching these two back to back was the best thing I could have done. For real, a must buy with a bunch of great extras.
