Houkodou Eyeshadow Brush G-S2, Sora Series

really confused and disappointed

This was very disappointing.... as ordering from Japan was a real investment choice for me. This brush was cited by many, and after reading and learning more about bristle types, i thought it was a safe choice. Even if it was stiffer, i knew i could adjust it to different products, or laydown with dryer formulas. But this brush… regardless of if i try to use just the tip, or the flat side, i’ll be going along, everything is fine and then suddenly get individual SHARP bristles hitting my eyelid. I’ve never had such pain. I've never considered myself overly sensitive - I have machine-cut bristle type rephr brushes, that have never hurt me like this. Synthetics, bad quality ones from Sephora. On the other side, Wayne Goss, Sonia G, all my chikihuodo brushes in goat, fox and squirrel, have been never caused a problem. I keep trying to ‘finesse’ my technique… keep checking how the bristles are falling as they bend… trying to isolate the ones that are perhaps broken and hurting. I’ve now marked one side as ‘safer’ then the other side — in an effort to still find some use for it… but i have to brace myself for potential pain every time, and I shouldn’t have to be doing this at all - not for an established brand on a very popular brush. I really don’t understand and can only assume i got a bad bundle. even if it was a stiffer type brush i shouldn't get a sudden stab-bristles... not on the flat side, not on the tip if just putting a bit more pressure... and that's what's happening.

Versatile and soft

It's an admirable design. Perhaps it's my favorite eyeshadow brush so far. It's very soft but has a firm enough base to pick up product and blend the edges. It allows for buildable coverage. If I could only keep one eyeshadow brush from my collection, it would be this one.
