Only used them once so far. Very comfortable but not as grippy in the water as I had hoped.

Best fitting Wade boot I own. Light and comfortable!

Well, I wanted a sticky boot that did not require (necessarily) traction screws and that was light with a lot of ankle support. I have an older version from a few years ago with the rubber sole and it was (what is left of it) fantastic. I have only worn this boot a few times so far, in both the Deschutes and Crooked rivers. This boot definitely does not have the same vibram type grip walking trails so you actually have to be a little careful walking up or down gravel embankments—it will slip. Less slippery in the river though, at least unless the river bottom is covered in algae, in which case everything slips. I think it is at least on par with a rubber sole with studs. If I was doing a lot of hiking in or out I would wear a pair of boots with a hard rubber sole. But so far these are pretty solid. It is hard to find one boot that does it all, but these seem to be a good choice for most occasions in most rivers
