WALNUT FLOATING SHELVES

In all honesty, these shelves are perfect!! The walnut is beautiful, installation is very straight forward. This wasn’t our first purchase from Brick Mill. We purchased a live edge shelf two or three years ago and get many compliments on it.

Disappointed

I had such high hopes because we have four long floating kitchen shelves we need. So we bought the smallest walnut shelf they offer, as a test. Mechanically its great. The hardware is very beefy. I'm sure it will support a fairly heavy load, certainly more than we'll need. The problem was the shelf. While is appears to be walnut it is only sanded to about 80 grit, and then some sort of oil was rubbed in. It was so rough you could barely see the grain. I'm sure I can salvage it by sanding it through 220 or maybe 400 grit, and then applying my favorite oil or maybe a varnish. So I'll keep it, but I really don't want to go through the same thing with the kitchen shelves. Too bad. Shawn
