Crown Jewel Gardenia

I paid $85 for a gardenia that arrived with shriveled pale brown leaves, but I thought it would get better once watered and in the ground. It had barely any root ball, and not only didn’t get better, took a drastic turn for the worse once planted. I removed it from the ground and potted up to recover in a shady spot, and reported the problem well within the 90 warranty period. The seller did not respond. A few weeks later the plant was completely dead and I wrote again. This time the seller conveniently claimed he didn’t get the first email and since my 90 days were up, too bad. He also gave me a lecture on how to plant. I’ve had 35 years of gardening experience and had I read the reviews first, I would have seen that others have had the exact same poor customer service with this seller, particularly the lack of roots, lack of communication, and lack of satisfaction over expensive dead plants.
