As a 20-year veteran elementary teacher pivoting to the art classroom, I enjoyed reading Cassie’s experiences teaching art. I related to her first years teaching and agree with the solid and insightful advice she provides. The book read like both a memoir and a guidebook for those interested in learning how Cassie has come to become one of the leading art educators. I’ve bookmarked numerous pages so that I can reference that as I begin the next chapter of my teaching career. It was a great read for teachers of all experiences.

Career Saving

I was super nervous to teach my own art class for the first time, and this book really helped me get my head in the game to start off right. Lesson planing had my stomach in knots; I’ve seen lessons fall apart before and it’s not fun. This was a huge tool to help me feel grounded, when my head was in the clouds.
