Costly mistake

I bought and was delivered a size 33-30 but the front left pocket was mis-sewn leaving the pocket unusable. I was instructed by Castaway to return the item and a new pair would be sent to me as there was a replacement pair in my size. A day or two later I received a call from Castaway that only a larger waist size was available which I have now received but am having to pay a tailor to alter the waist size. If I had been correctly told my size was not available I would have paid the price for a tailor to fix the pocket. This waist alteration is now going to cost even more than the cost to repair the pocket, though I do not believe I should bear that cost in either case. Just saying!
