Beefy, but “cumbersome”
A. 10mm Extension Set- 1. Can be joined together ( for a really deep hole) 2. Cumbersome to use on a keyless chuck, especially on a lathe tailstock, as you have to wiggle the extension to get the chuck jaws to seat on the “flats” ( true with any 3-sided bit in a keyless chuck) 3. Beefy, compared to Colt extensions, a good design B. 8mm Extension Set 1. Major design flaw- the drilled recess to accept the bit is too deep. If you insert one of the smaller bits all the way in until it “bottoms out”, only the rear set screws rest on the “flats”. The front set screws are only touching the round shank. I’m going to poke a piece of rubber into the recess, to fill the gap. This tells me that no one at the factory has tried boring a hole using the 8mm set with the smaller bits?? 2. The pieces cannot be joined together, for deep holes No Allen Key supplied, for tightening the set screws ?? I find the Colt Extensions much faster, as the extensions were available with Morse Taper shanks/ this is what you need for tailstock drilling but Famag doesn’t sell Morse Taper fittings ??? I don’t understand that??

Famag
It’s a very good product for all wood application.

famag forstners
i had been using Colt forstner bits and extensions. The famag are far better. they run cooler and the sides of hole are much cleaner.
