Elastic band is tight

The print is super cute, but the black elastic band is tighter than I would like it. Even though I don't have much of a belly, the band causes something like a muffin top. If they fit at my natural waist, I'm sure the elastic would be the right size, but since they are on my hips, the elastic is tighter than it should be. I would love these if the elastic wasn't so tight. I don't want to size up because they fit properly everywhere else.
