Tested for work: in the tropics, heavy rain, blistering sun, open boats at high speed, salt spray etc. So good, have given this hat an internal part number in our business and ordered 2 more. The cord keeps it from blowing off your head and the broad rim stays stiff, but can be flattened in luggage for transport. It doesn't smell after getting wet. It keeps its shape.
