For me, choice of handle can change the feel and performance of some safety razor heads meaningfully. I use the MR18 primarily on the Maggard SS70 head and it is nice to have on hand for other uses around the razor collection that arise from time to time. The Maggard Razors MR18 is a well-made stainless steel safety razor handle for users who want a solid, medium-weight option without going to an extreme. At 98 mm long and 62 grams, it has noticeable heft but is not super heavy. Lighter aluminum handles are also comfortable and agile, so this is more a matter of personal preference than one being better than the other. The handle is CNC machined from stainless steel rather than made from chromed zinc alloy (zamak - pot metal ). Stainless steel will not lose a chrome plating over time, while a chromed zamak handle can eventually show wear if the plating is damaged. The 11.3 mm diameter provides a comfortable middle-ground grip that is neither especially slim nor especially thick, making it suitable for many hand sizes. I enjoy the mainstream utilitarian feel. Its longer length gives a little more reach and leverage, which many users find comfortable, especially if they prefer holding the razor lower on the handle. Since the MR18 is sold as a handle only, it can be paired with Maggard heads or many other standard safety razor heads, making it a flexible choice for building a razor that suits your preferences.
