Fatip il Piccolo Nickel Open Comb DE Safety Razor, #42100

Unless you want to painstakingly align the blade every time you replace it, do not get this razor. There’s way too much wiggle room for the blade, and it will be crooked or extending further from one side if you do not spend the time aligning it. Once the blade is on there, it’s a decent shave, though. Not as nice as a vintage gillette new long comb, which has a similar head design.

Very Close Shave

In my first use it did take three passes to get a BBS shave, which I was not aiming for. I used a new Personna (Germany) blade, Clubman Pinaud shave soap and a cheap boar bristle brush, ending with Gillette after shave gel (I always do a second application about a half hour after the first). For a tiny razor it is very nimble and maneuverable. I did get a lot of blade feel and a fair amount of tugging where my five day old moderate beard was most dense. No nicks or cuts but I always have post-shave razor burn which takes 18-24 hours to dissipate. The razor burn with the Il Piccolo was moderate. A great travel razor at a great price.
