Old school
This is a great aftershave if you’re looking for something softer in scent and more drying on the face. Scent wise, this smells like terre d’hermes. A lot like it, with an orange/vetiver/pepper combination that’s unmistakeable. It’s a softer scent with good sillage that remains noticeable without being in-your-face about it. It’s most reminiscent of fine’s “l’orange noir”, but Windsor doesn’t smell nearly as perfumey or “fragranced” to my nose. The ingredients do list oils directly from the notes it’s supposed to smell like that, and i believe this shows in the quality and complexity of Windsor’s scent. Performance wise, it also reminds me of Fine’s, but without the menthol. Alcohol is the primary player in this, but manages to do so without producing an unsavory burn. There’s not nary as much “skin food” in this as other big players out there, and thus primarily dries the face after application. There’s something about this one in particular, though, that makes you feel very, very clean after application. With a good shave this doesn’t really burn, and with a bad shave it stings a bit but doesn’t bite. I personally do enjoy this one. I feel like a gentleman after using it. And yes, it does have a stopper.
