Col. Conk Amber Traditional Shave Soap, 2oz

Not fit for shaving

This review is for the new version of Col Conk that is an opaque hard puck of soap. Wow, they really ruined Col Conk with this new formula. It used to be a decent inexpensive glycerin soap that lathered up easily and gave a good shave, but not anymore. The lather is just like what happens whenever I've tried to lather up with a regular old bar soap - it's airy, bubbly, and practically disappears almost as soon as I brush it on. It dries out on my face leaving a sticky residue that needs to be washed off. I suppose it's slick enough to shave with if you keep it wet and if you don't mind the lack of any usable lather. On top of it of the poor performance, it irritated the heck out of my skin, causing redness and burning all the way up my cheeks (where I didn't even shave). Amber used to be my favorite of the old glycerin Conk soaps but aside from the scent, this is truly awful. I'll use it up as a hand soap assuming it doesn't burn my skin there too.
