It’s a useful product but possible issues with durability?

Great for drying and gives a real shine to glasses and cutlery. However, after washing three times some small tears have been noticed in the fabric. It’s conceivable that these were caused by drying a sharp knife but no user of the product recalls damaging it in that way. Is there a problem with the weave.
