Lifesaver Waterproof Mat Original

I wanted to love it, but..

The lifesaver mat sounded exactly like what I needed: to put between my car upholstery and my post-workout sweat or post-beach soggy swimsuit; for my kid’s bed wetting; or sloppy fun times with a date. All things I’ve used towels for with limited success. I was looking forward to that advertised dry-feel absorbent side with a waterproof backing. Alas! It was not all I hoped. The waterproof side was definitely waterproof, but the absorbent dry-feel side was neither. Liquid beaded on the surface and absorbed in so slowly that it was more likely to run off the edge than soak in—especially with the waterproof layer on the bottom, the whole thing tends to slip out of position. We had some spills. And it does feel wet, even more than my microfiber yoga towel. I’m hoping the absorbent side becomes more so with further washing and it becomes more useful as it gets “broken in". It’s a beautifully made product that should last for years, and I wanted to love it .
