Header Pipe

The header pipe fits and looks great. Doesn't sound like a traditional Triumph (didn't expect it to), but sounds a lot better. I like the looks of the stock silencers so I am satisfied with the results. I was concerned at first about the color of the pipe being different from the left, but once heated up it changed color to match. I did have a tough time installing the upper silencer getting it to slide on enough to match mount holes. I was short like about 1/32-1/16 of an inch. I did bench fit it first because of the style of the seal as to not gouge it, but managed to succeed. One other problem was the mounting tab for the rear of the front heat shield was against the upper silencer connection. I trimmed a little off to give some clearance as the included photos show. After installation was complete I performed the Triumph Self Learn ECU procedure when I first started the bike.

Quality but not easily installed...

The pipes are well made and fit in the engines exhaust well; however, the ends of the pipes are the same size as the shotgun exhausts. I had to enlarge the slits on the pipes and open them up a bit before they would fit on the shotgun exhausts. I used a mallet and a block of wood placed on the shotgun exhausts to tap the pipes into place. Also, I had trouble fitting the exhaust clamps back on the engine. I didn't realize that the part that bolts onto the engine does not fit straight on; one piece of this part fits on top of the other piece while the other part fits underneath. The black heat shield does not appear to be installable, although it does not appear to be necessary. The heat that I felt prior to installing the H-pipe is gone and I actually like the appearance better without the black heat shield. Where are the instructions? A simple set of instructions would have helped so much. I love the appearance and the sound. I was amazed at how much weight is saved by removing the catalytic converter.
