Very universal rod. It handles a huge range of baits from 10g jigs to crankbaits to medium glidebaits and looks almost indestructible. The build quality is excellent. I am super happy with this rod!

Excelyrod bought after excellent advice

When I was considering to buy this rod I couldn’t find a single review, hook-up mentioned it in on their youtube movie when discussing the whole range, but this rod deserves an own review: it is an excellent muti-purose rod if you are limited, like me as a wading fisherman, to one rod or carry two but that need to be short in size (ie multi piece rod). Coming from the MB Orochi X4 F6 72X4 I was looking for a successor. A super sensitive rod (see review tackletour.com) it had, for my situation two drawbacks; it was a one-piece rod and I felt uncomfortable casting above 2 ounce. I was hesitating between the shorter VKC65MH4 and this one. JDM guaranteed me that these rods are rated truly to their casting weight and advised me, as North European pike fisher to buy this VKC78H4: it really delivered all its promises. I had a short thought on the VKC11XH4 Testing: I received the rod at the end of February but due to the heavy storms and freezing conditions my fishing time was limited to 10 brief trips of 1-2 hours wading and bank fishing and 3trips of 2-3 hours around 10C. Testers: 7 pike 31-38 inch, 10-18 lbs. Casting: this is a good caster, to my surprise it cast an MB Vatalion further than my 8’6” Temming’s Baitcaster (custom built by Ton Temming). It is a very capable caster against head wind (tested up to 40km/hr) Due to the cold conditions I didn’t test its lower limits but my lightest lure was a Duo Fangbait 140 and the heaviest was the DRT Klash9. It is a precise caster, also for the heavy swimbaits, due to the rod tip. Hooking: I was able to hook and land two pikes within 1-1.5 rod lengths distance from the rod tip and I feel this is due to the soft but strong glass-carbon rod tip (haven’t been able to do this with previously mentioned rods) Sensitivity: not as sensitive as the Orochi X4F6 72X4, but sensitive enough to distinguish when the blades of a 1 ounce spinner blade stopped turning due to vegetation or a pike. Overall impression: though I had limited time for an extensive test the tough conditions and a few decently sized pikes made up for this to form a fairly good impression of the rod, which has power to spare. This is a really good rod, able to work pencils (just a short test) and spinnerbaits from 1 ounce up to soft and hard swimbaits of 4 ounce. The Zaldain is much more comfortable than cork under cold (-2C to +5C) conditions. The rod has power to spare and I am happy not have bought the more powerful VKC11XH-4 since the majority of fish I catch are 30-40” and not +40”. I really recommend it as an ideal multi purpose, multi-piece rod, importantly also for European pike fishermen.
