I was hesitant when I got it, because it pretty much look the same, but the padding was slightly thicker but it did the job in making a smoother ride. I used to do a slight squat to take the weight off my rear when I see a bump on the road, but now I don't do that anymore, the thicker cushion made up for it. I think the new seat is the number one upgrade recommendation for this bike.
