Not the Improvement I hoped for
I used AnimalBiome Gut Restore (>40lb large capsules) for my 41 lb Whippet with a long history of chronic soft stools and intermittent diarrhea. I kept a detailed stool diary throughout the trial. My dog was on the product for approximately 6 weeks. During the first 26 days, he experienced diarrhea on 11 of 26 days (42%). After consulting with AnimalBiome, I increased the dose from 1 capsule daily to 2 capsules daily. Following the dose increase, diarrhea frequency decreased to approximately 28% of days and my dog had several consecutive days of normal stools. Despite this, he continued to have ongoing soft stools and diarrhea episodes and I did not observe a meaningful overall improvement in his gastrointestinal symptoms. Overall, I did not see the dramatic improvement I was hoping for especially given the cost. It's possible the product provided some benefit but it was difficult for me to determine how much of the improvement was due to the capsules versus the natural ups and downs of his GI disease. Customer service was responsive and reviewed my stool diary but I found the recommendations focused heavily on additional AnimalBiome products and testing which was frustrating given the already significant cost of the Gut Restore capsules. For dogs with chronic gastrointestinal issues your experience may vary. In my case I did not observe a meaningful improvement in my dog's gastrointestinal symptoms over the course of the trial.

Worsened Diarrhea
Great hope for this working on my dog's diarrhea, and for two weeks it seemed to be. After that she went from loose to complete liquid stools. Took her off it for 3 days, and her stool solidified. Started back up, and so did the liquid stools.

Gives my dog diarrhea
Our dog began having GI issues after taking antibiotics. After trying many other things for months, two vets recommended Gut Restore. We tried giving it to her 3x - days apart each time. Every time she got diarrhea and one time she puked. We tried giving Pepto Bismol with it and that did not help (do not give dogs Pepto without vet supervision and never frequently). Gut Restore was one of the last options we had, but alas, we will never know if it could work if it makes our girl sick.
