Probably the best heated coat on the market!
The best review you will read from a long time owner and original backer of Ember. Constructive criticism at the bottom(read below) Ive worn an ember full zip for at least 3yrs now and ive literally worn it nearly everyday for 2 seasons of the year minimum bc it is as designed as they say it is. The vents do keep your temp regulated well in a wide range of temperatures, it internally retains heat well and with the auto off i may not notice its off for 15 mins in the winter bc im still hot. I work outside all year in and out of my car all day and ive found my heated seats even heat up the wires/coils in the coat thus retaining more heat longer. The battery is incredible and lasts maybe longer than they say it does i can easily use this for 2 full days (on low) without charging in the winter. The coat has subtle features ive not seen elsewhere that really set it apart, but maybe still not worth $450 if we are being realistic. Some design features are ambitious and work and some are just shy of being the greatest jacket ever produced and im not over exaggerating. Criticism: using the rear “battery pocket” even with the curved battery design is likely the most uncomfortable place for it, if you do any sitting this hard plastic battery will become a nightmare in this location which is why i never was able to use what was supposed to be a big selling point for ember. The cord does just barely reach your pocket so surprise you now have a battery as heavy as a phone in your pants pocket. 3/5 ⭐️ Even with a tailored fit or perfectly sized jacket its still quite open in the bottom, my suggestion would be to simply have the bottom have an elastic string to close the gap thus making it warmer when you need it and use less battery. 3/5⭐️ The built in gloves are extremely cool to have and although dont cover much in an emergency situation they could be a finger saver 4.9/5⭐️ Would have been really nice to see even alittle heat inside the arms maybe one strand around the wrist at least. Im shocked that theres no heat inside the main front pockets! Again just a small wire placement could have been a game changer for me working outside 3/5⭐️ Cosmetically i really like the button except for the thin rubberized(?) coating it has thats super thin and wears off far too easily from a smooth seatbelt with very little friction, this leaves the jacket looking older and more worn than it really is and id expect this to be alittle better designed being its the focal point and advertises to everyone else while lit up. Cant have your advertisement looking cheap right? 2/5⭐️ Everything else about the ember visually is exactly as it should be for a high end jacket that comes with this much functionality! As i said i wear this thing, i protect it with my life practically so i have no durability opinions other than listed above and some random threads coming loose hear and there but, and this is the biggest disappointment of all, for it to one day just stop working(the jacket not battery and only a 2yr warranty) was extremely disappointing. I backed the ember in the beginning and waited 2 years to finally receive one and once it just stopped being told i had to pay full price for another was in my opinion dropping the ball as they dont offer repair on internal electrical components in the jacket. Yes they should be compensated but sometimes like in my case an original backer who constantly advocates for the brand should receive alittle extra which i eventually did but it only just barely ended up being acceptable, any more money from me and i would have passed and wrote here saying that they dont stand with the product or customers. The woman i dealt with was truly wonderful and did everything she could and im happy to be back in the ember and i seriously hope my review leads to a gen 2 or something with some subtle updates to make it truly fantastic bc that $450 isnt a small ask. Customer service once you can actually get ahold of some help is a 4/5⭐️ I think the company would benefit greatly from inspecting my old first jacket that quit working tbh leading to a better product for the future but im just a guy. If you have the money, you need to buy Ember. Nothing is perfect in life but future models may change that and ive never experienced a battery i didnt have to worry about dying on me and thats a huge selling point here. I dont regret this purchase even a little bit which is why i did pay the discounted price for a replacement but without that discount for #2 i would have switched to a cheaper jacket and absolutely will if i have further issues not covered under warranty but that doesnt change how great Ember is today. -Chris

Haven’t tested on a hike yet
Fits almost perfect! I love that I don’t have to layer. Placement of the battery pack is questionable. I’ll have to see wearing my pack. All in all it’s great.

Jacket is nice, not bulky
I was thinking the warmth would be stronger. Arms feel cold. Needed instructions with battery connecting, but good video sent.
