First off, the customer service at Fin and Fire is excellent. I originally purchased a Ross Revolution R and was very disappointed with the quality. Chris exchanged the reel with no issues. The Tibor Backcountry feels much more substantial. I had the opportunity to fish it this past weekend and the drag was smooth and it performed flawlessly. If you’re purchasing online this is the company to shop.

This is a great customer service story! I had been researching a great 6 weight set primarily for streamer fishing. My need was for trout and Landlocked salmon in New England as well as Smallmouth bass wherever I can find them. I came up with a Scott Centric 9'6" 6wt and a Tibor Outback Reel lined with RIO multi Tip. It was my first Tibor and I was excited to try one out. The order got here quickly. The reel was loaded with backing (thanks!) so lining it was easy. When I went to seat the reel - it would not stay locked down. I tried everything and it would easily shake loose. I tried the reel on two other rods - no issues. I tried the Rod with three other reels and they all locked down. That's when I reached out to Chris. Chris got back to me right away. We got on a call so he could understand what I was experiencing. At the shop he got a rod and a reel like mine and tested it out - with the same result. Chris offered to exchange the reel - but told me he had a Tibor Backcountry and it was a great reel. I agreed to let him work on the problem with Tibor. Chris would have to tell you what they worked out, but I think they slightly reengineered the reel stand to fit the Scott seat. The whole process took a couple of weeks. I got the stand today from Chris. He included an Allen wrench to make the swap. Super easy and great result! I have a trip on the Shenandoah coming up for Smallmouth - this rod is coming. I will update Chris on how it goes. Thank for a great experience! Jeff G
