Arduino Sensor Kit - Base

The sensor kit is really cool. I have mine installed right onto the Uno R3 to avoid needing cables for now.

I am brand new to Arduino, so I ordered the sensor kit to give myself a little grab bag of inputs and outputs to play around with and learn the basics. The goal was to make something interesting enough to get my kids excited about an engineering project, and it was a huge success. I made a little "music machine" that let the kids use the various inputs to control the LED and buzzer and they loved it. It went over so well that they asked to see the code and actually had questions about how it worked. Anything that can get a second grader to willingly read C++ code has to be doing something right. Eventually, I look forward to building things that require actual soldering and circuit building, but I love the way the sensor kit let me put that off until I get comfortable with some Arduino basics. Learning it all at once would likely have been a bit overwhelming, but having everything built into a fully-connected shield made it so much easier to get right to the tinkering.
