Erica
First of all it’s a beautiful book about a fascinating woman who had a passion for creating with her hands. I knew nothing else about her but that she was extremely successful. I started to do my own needlepoint projects in 1998 and loved needlepoint ever since. Here’s a photo of a project I’ve worked on since 2000. I’m determined to finish it this winter because I’ve decided it will adorn a twin size headboard.

Memories fast forward
The book arrived as I was undergoing cataract surgeries and looking forward to being able to read and stitch again. It was fascinating to learn about Erica’s experiences and the growth of stitching in the latter half of the 20th century. It brought back my own fond memories: being taught embroidery by my Italian grandfather who was able to tell me how to stitch from watching the women in his family although he did not stitch; picking up needlepoint during college in Massachusetts; and discovering Nantucket and Erica’s shop in the 1990’s. Happily, I am stitching again and looking forward to completing a 2-sided Halloween witch I bought at a trunk show at your shop on my first summer visit to Nantucket in the mid 1990’s!! Thank you immensely for all this!
