New To Straight Razor Shaving

My experience with Shave Nation has been good overall, but there are a couple of things I would like to mention. First, I recently moved to Mexico from AZ and Shave Nation would not ship my items (a $400 + order) to my American address because I had placed the order from my home in Mexico. Shave Nation wanted proof with a picture of my ID. I think this was a good practice and protects the buyer as well as the seller. Once it was established that I was a legit customer, my items arrived in a timely fashion. Second, it was my impression that my razor would be "shave ready." I even purchased a 12K stone and strop to follow Shave Nation's YouTube video to make sure it would be "shave ready." My first and second shave were very uncomfortable with the razor pulling and tugging. It shaved the hairs on my arm okay, but would not cut the hairs when the razor made no contact with the skin. After some reseach on a FB page, it was noted that razors not being shave ready was rather common, and I should send it to a professional hone meister (not sure that's the correct term) to have it professionally honed. I just heard back from that individual and he let me know the razor was not even close to shave ready. Having said that, I do not blame Shave Nation for getting a dull razor. I am happy with my service and I will order more items from this supplier. If you haven't watched his YouTube videos, they are helpful and informative.
