UltaMid 4 Half Insert

Functional ish, minimal definitely

Admittedly a little bias - I wanted a solid, or at least a half solid insert for my HMG Ultamid 4 for use through the winter/snow season and alpine missions. HMG was unable/unwilling to create/supply that kind of insert. So, with that disclaimer stated - the 2 person insert is good. It is suitably sized and the materials seem reasonable for the intended purpose. It does lean towards ultra minimalistic with no pockets or storage of any kind (not necessarily a bad thing). The bungees for holding it in place/shape are my biggest concern for now. I find the clips very fiddly to use, and the whole setup doesn't do a particularly good job of holding the bathtub floor in its correct shape. Some of this may improve with more trial and error/use, but it is not an idiot proof system. My other concern here is the bungees themselves - how long will they last, will they stretch/fail quickly? Easy enough to replace, but again for the price I was hoping for a more refined system. My experience is 12 years as an outdoor instructor using a wide variety of systems, I like gear that "just works" without having to think about it, but am also a realist in that I understand nothing is perfect.

Arrived quickly from the US to the UK. Excellent quality and had a great price as well. Delighted with my purchase.
