As always with Bitmap Books, the production quality is excellent — and that is something I really appreciate, especially nowadays. The book begins with a highly informative introduction to the JRPG genre and then takes the reader through many different eras of gaming history, from early classics to more modern titles. Every game is covered in impressive detail, and even if you already know the genre well, you are very likely to discover new facts, forgotten gems, or even titles you have never heard of before. For me, this book is also the perfect companion to Bitmap Books’ CRPG book. Together, they provide a fascinating and very complete overview of the wider world of RPGs. An easy recommendation for anyone interested in JRPGs, RPG history, or beautifully produced gaming books.
