Taconite is so special!
I ordered taconite because b. Pavonia wasn't available and I had heard that Taconite was another iridescent begonia that would glow when it is exposed to direct light and ambient light is low. I was shocked at just how much. During the day it goes through a spectrum of colors in bright light: green, chocolate, copper, black, bronze, red, orange, white, and blue, the iridescent changes giving the leaves and unreal appearance.
This may be one of my favorite plants of all time. From across the room it is very unassuming, but on closer inspection it will change colors as you look around it, and the contour of its leaves change the way it reflects light similar to holographic art.
It's lower humidity requirements make it an exceptional choice for a house plant.

I’m glad it’s recovering and it’ll be a great plant omce it gets better, but oh my god, I don’t think I’ve seen very many packaging jobs as bad as this. It was wrapped it crepe paper and held together with painter’s tape with no insulation. The poor begonia was bone dry when I got it. I promise y’all, sticking a wooden kebab skewer *through the leaves* and the soil so it won’t simply bounce around as much is a terrible and poorly executed idea. All of the leaves are ripped. Like I said, I’m very glad it’s still alive and look forward to its new growth.
