I do believe that these are considered by many to be the best artist quality charcoal and charcoal holders that money can buy…and now having had the pleasure of using these and other Nitram products, I agree completely. The charcoal has been snmooth and consistent across the different grades and the holder feels nice solid in the hand while securely holding the charcoal. I can create without needing a lot of charcoal on my fingers— unless I want to use my fingers to blend/soften. In addition to the high quality of the products, I also like that their Customer Service has been truly responsive to my questions/concerns. Nitram products definitely have proven to be worth the investment.
