Ming Jiang Zhu 905 Viola

Beautiful viola with great sound

I had a hard choice between several violas from Fiddlershop, and while I know I couldn't have made a bad decision with any of them, I'm delighted with the Ming 905 I went with after the extremely helpful conversations I had with Clare and the amazing video comparison Mr. Holstein (Fiddlerman) made for me. The viola is gorgeous to look at, of course, but the real treat is that it has a big, warm sound that is a great contribution to my ensemble playing while also serving me well for solo playing. I'd describe it as a perfect balance of bright and warm, not too out there while still having a strong, distinct sound. It feels and sounds great under the ear and is a joy to play-- I sized up and expected a bit of adjustment but the Ming feels like it was made for me and was as easy to play as if I've been with it forever. The boxwood fittings paired with minimal shoulder support (I like the red sponges) really help it shine and sing. It's light but sturdy and I know I'm going to love playing it for a long time. I'm so grateful for Fiddlershop's help and patient guidance and will be a customer and fan for life!
