8" Hitch Extension LS

Too tight fit.....

A sturdy piece of metal but the male end is way too tight. The female end is OK. I never had trouble putting the bike rack (Rockymounts Split rails LS) in and/or out of the trailer hitch but the extension wouldn't go in. I cleaned and greased it well but I still had to use a rubber hammer to get it in. I think it will be VERY VERY (impossible?) difficult to get it out of there. Very disappointing from RockyMounts.

Nice combination extension package

Installing the hitch extension onto the DrawTite trailer hitch on my recently purchased 2021 Subaru Outback was a breeze. The extension allowed me to finally install my Thule Apex 4 Swing bike rack. Without the extension, the tightening knob on the rack would hit my bumper before I could get the rack's Auto Pin into the hitch pin hole as the hitch pin hole on the DrawTite was 6" back from the bumper. After inserting the extension into the hitch and lining up the hitch pin holes, I inserted the hitch bolt and hand tightened it. Once I had finished tightening the bolt with the provided wrench, I gave the hitch a couple of shakes in all directions and found there was no wiggling at all. The included lock popped onto the end of the bolt without any issues. Took about 1min to complete. As a bonus, I found that I can now open my tailgate without swinging my rack away from the car.
