I bought the cheaper one that doesn't reach as far as this one and I accidentally left it outside to get rained on. This one with the built in extender is definitely worth the extra money. It works very well even in a thick ceramic kamado grill.

My First Experience with The MeatStick
My experience was positive overall. And, I'm sure that the small amount of trouble I had were my mistakes. But, I read to charge the MeatStick for 24 hours. When I charged my MeatStick, it only charged for 30 minutes before shutting off. I thought mine somehow cut off when it was not supposed to. But, it didn't need that much of a charge. Then, I lost the signal. I waited for the signal to reset for about 10 minutes, then I reset the whole cook. I imagine that I may have moved out of range or maybe my WiFi had a hiccup, but I'm sure that this is rare and I will learn to cook without these minor issues. My MeatStick kept very accurate temperature and my chicken and catfish were smoked to perfection. I can't wait to use it again. Next up...ribeyes.
