Ashore — Amouage
Ashore makes its intentions very clear from the first spray: flowers, and lots of them. Not the light, airy kind of florals I tend to enjoy, but something much more mature and garden-like. It immediately gives me the impression of walking into a garden full of blooming flowers, and unfortunately, that’s not a pleasant experience for my nose. I imagine this on a mature older woman or someone at church.
As it settles, the fragrance doesn’t change enough to win me over. The floral scent remains very prominent, although I eventually notice a little soapiness underneath. I can understand the appeal if you’re someone who loves traditional floral perfumes and enjoys smelling like a bouquet with a clean, soapy finish. But for me, the flowers are simply too overwhelming.
This is definitely not my kind of fragrance. I prefer modern, airy, clean scents with soft musk and a fresh, polished quality. I tend to avoid mature, heavy florals, so if your taste is anything like mine, I’d strongly recommend sampling before buying or avoiding.

Beautiful Jasmine Fragrance
I love this on. For me, it goes almost immediately to the heart notes - big, heady jasmine - then settles finally into a woody, and almost marine base. The way this lingers on clothes and in my hair is divine. My only nitpick is that I become anosmic to this one pretty quickly (but know it’s got potent sillage) so it’s not one I can reach for every day. Since Amouage only offers it in a 100 mL bottle (a rather expensive bottle), I’m on the fence about purchasing it full-sized.
