Espresso Bean Shino

Great glaze!

From the first time I used it, it was easy and successful. Works well with both two coats and three coats. It always has some colour variations from lighter to very dark brown, best on texture. Espresso describes it pretty well, imagine it with a bit of milk and black. It gets glossier at cone 6, satin at cone 5. But that also varies depending on cool down settings (slow cool - more satin, natural cool down - somewhat glossier). The colour and finish variations also depend on the clay. On Plainsman M340 it has a leathery dark brown colour in a nice satin. It may arrive almost dead panned (it did for me) and it takes some time and effort to get it creamy again (scraping, sieving, some darvan 7), but it’s worth it!

Very Happy Results

Just fired Espresso Bean Shino on a couple of pieces for the first time, very happy with the results. Broke with more deep brown's then expected. Will definitely be including this lovely glaze in my next load.
