Our tallest, darkest romaine, Coastal Star Organic performs brilliantly in spring and fall, and even in winter with some protection from hard frost. This romaine is early maturing with a high resistance to corky root. Heads are tightly packed around blanched tender hearts, and have an overall pleasant lettuce

I like Romaine costal star seeds as I grow in a hot house in a hot desert like climate . They are heat tolerant, and mildew resistance. They grow larger and larger if I don’t use them and always stay sweet. I cut them off about two inches leaving the root and they grow again. I use remay cloth so the cabbage moths can’t get to them . I also use diatomaceous earth to prevent ants farming aphids on them.
