Not a real kaleidoscope
I was surprised that this item is NOT A KALEIDOSCOPE, not as the word is usually defined (E.G. Merriam-Webster: "a tube containing loose bits of colored glass or plastic and two mirrors at one end that shows many different patterns as it is turned." Apparently, I was supposed to notice the word "lens." It is simply a tube with a piece of faceted plastic at one end. When you look through it, the image it's pointed at fractures into multiple images of the same thing, all with the same orientation. There is no turning, no mirrors, no interior colors. Sorry to write such a negative review. I had intended this as a child's gift and purchased it because the tube was made of wood with a spectrum of colors on the exterior. Not only can I not give it as a gift, it's so boring, I'm not sure what to do with it. I wound up buying an old-fashioned tin kaleidoscope for $8 on Amazon instead. I can't imagine what the manufacturers were thinking, and it's frankly misleading to market it using the word kaleidoscope.
