Incredible filters for incredible coffee

I've used Ebb reusable coffee filters with my Chemex for years and I love them. The filters are very high quality and help produce extraordinary coffee. The primary differences between cloth and paper filters are how water flows when brewing and the amount of oils and solubles that make their way from the grounds into the final product. As a result, brewing coffee with these cloth filters is different, and the coffee you produce using them will be different. Traditional Chemex paper filters are very thick, and as a result, they brew slowly. These filters typically require coarser grounds for adequate brew times. Furthermore, the thickness of the paper filters prevents many oils and solubles present in coffee grounds from making their way into the final product. This results in what some call a "clean" cup of coffee, meaning that the texture of the coffee as you drink it, and how the coffee lingers in your mouth after you drink it will be different. The texture is smoother, as there are fewer oils and solubles, so the coffee lingers less in your mouth after drinking it. However, these oils and solubles contain flavor and help produce body and mouthfeel, which might be missing for some who enjoy that. Using the Ebb cloth filter allows more oils and solubles to move from the grounds into the brewed coffee, resulting in a more dynamic and well-rounded coffee. This creates more texture when drinking the coffee, as it lingers a bit longer in your mouth after drinking. The flavor of the coffee will also be different, as the oils and solubles contain flavor that make their way into the final product. This is preferable for my tastes, though everyone's preferences for coffee will vary. Overall, I highly recommend an Ebb cloth filter if you have never used a cloth filter for brewing coffee before. You will have a different brewing and drinking experience than with paper filters, as well as a little more cleanup as the cloth filter must be cleaned before each use.
