I confess I had never heard this performance before acquiring the version here. It is a rollicking good time, the first movement really is like high-fi Toscanini, and while the quartet of soloists in the finale never drop much below double forte, the result is as infectious a performance of this great work as you are likely to hear.

Wonderful recording by the Boston Symphony Orchestra

This is a classic conducted by Charles Munch; highly recommended.
