Exactly what was needed

YOUR PART WAS PERFECT. Unfortunately, the first I bought from someone else was not. I went on Amazon and found a 740iL trunk strut that defined itself as an exact replacement. It was NOT. The right rear trunk strut has to pass through a plastic sleeve. The first one was the right length but had a wide knuckle at the piston end it almost broke the sleeve. Worse, they charged me for returning it even though I ha Prime. So I decided to go to OEM and get the right part. Should have done so first and will in the future. Your part was the exact part needed
