The nib is absolutely smooth. Even when the nib is skewed, it still scribes clean. Japanese craftsmanship all the way.

One of the best inexpensive factory italics

The 1.0mm stub is very unique among factory italics in that it is much sharper than, say, the TWSBI Eco 1.1mm, almost like a true cursive italic. It is very useable and characterful for everyday writing. Not too wet but a very smooth nib. Ink capacity is not great compared to a piston-filler like the ECO, so you'll need to refill often, and cannot be converted to eyedropper because of the metal body.
