Easier than it gives itself credit
I would rate my crochet skills as confident intermediate. This pattern is listed as intermediate but a confident beginner or early intermediate crocheter could probably take this on. The pattern only uses chain 1, single crochet, double crochetand slip stitches. The biggest challenge for a confident beginner would be maintaining consistent tension. While I normally hate to do a sizing swatch, that is very important for anything that will be fitted to ensure your needle size and tension are right. It is also important to use the correct size yarn (fingerling size 1) which is clearly stated. The author even tells you the exact brand used in the instruction images. I used sheepjes whirles. Color way sizziling. What I loved about this pattern is that it has very clear instructions - even for making a test swatch. Many intermediate patterns just assume one would know how to do test swatch. I do think the pattern could have been more concise at times, but the lengthier instructions are what makes it a little more friendly to advanced beginners. Felicity is modeling the full length shrug while Belle is in the short length shrug. Both are the short sleeve version although there are instructions for long sleeves. I would definitely recommend this pattern and will be making it again. I need it in white! I will also be looking for more patterns from this creator!

A lovely shrug 💖
A very easy step by step crochet pattern. I used Loops & Threads Woolike yarn. The shrug fit my American Girl perfectly!
