A great way to build very cool stuff
I volunteer at a food pantry in Worcester MA. We decided we needed a rack to display 12 busboy tubs and I undertook to build one. I decided on 1/2" black iron pipe for the build. After checking Home Depot, Lowes, and even a couple of local plumbing supply stores, I happened upon pipe decor's website. I was able to select all the pipes and fittings I thought I needed for my design from the web site, placed my order, and that order arrived on my doorstep just a few days after I placed it. As I began to assemble my project I realized that I had made some poor assumptions and needed to return part of my original order and order a bunch of other pieces. Pipe Decor emailed me a discounted return label and assured me they would issue me a refund for the returned items once they had received the return. I then placed a second order from Pipe Decor that I also received within a few days and was able to assemble my design. Once I assembled my final design, I washed down all the pipes and fittings with TSP, dried them carefully, sanded the pieces lightly using an 80 grit sanding belt, primed the entire project with Rustoleum clean metal primer, and then painted it with Rustoleum protective enamel metal paint. The results were outstanding and for short money I was able to make a very attractive, very sturdy rack that holds 12 busboy tubs in two layers for a fraction of the cost of buying an equivalent piece. We are a food pantry shoehorned into a small area in a local church and this rack efficiently displays all sorts of fruits, produce, and other foodstuffs in a fraction of the space we had previously used to display them. In short, using pipes and fittings from Pipe Decor I was able to design and build a solid, attractive display rack for a fraction of the amount it would have otherwise cost. It also allowed me to create an attractive custom built rack that fitted our needs perfectly and fit into it's allocated space like a glove. The food pantry Program Director and it's Board of Directors were thrilled with the outcome, as was Rachels Table, the philanthropic organization that funded the project. Rachel's Table will now be offering similar purpose built racks to other organizations they support.
