Metal Bird Bands

Valuable in the right setting

These are unique and useful conversation starters about bird banding as a valuable tool for monitoring birds' movements and health. I ended up not giving them away at a public event. They got hot in the June sun on our event table, we didn't have bags for giveaways (very small item and many visitors were in clothing to enjoy a river being celebrated) and most of our visiting children were quite young. If the whole event had been oriented to birds they may have been more useful. I imagine they would be perfect for classroom use, maybe 4th grade and up.

This is the 5th years, I've purchased these metal bird bands and every year that are a tremendous hit with teachers and seasonal staff. When my seasonals return they always looks forward to the birding session to be banded. It would be cool to have different colors for different years to identify when seasonals started working for the park.
