Folding Top Handle (All Colors)

Piece fit perfect !!

I have a 1998 Mercedes SL 500 which I love. As is the case with most if not all "older" Mercedes the plastic pieces start to literally disintegrate. I assume that this is the way that Mercedes manufactures the plastic they use and is some sort of ecology/biodegradable thing because I have much older cars with plastic parts that are not disintegrating. First it was the rearview mirror then it was the cover to the vanity mirrors on the Visors, then one day I came out to the car and the entire dome light assembly was literally hanging by its wires. Mercedes does not make the parts anymore and if you try and buy them used/secondhand on eBay, etc. they cost an arm and a leg IF you can find them and then the issue is that those plastic parts are going to start disintegrating as well. Thank goodness for classic trim parts! I had stopped driving the car and was all ready to sell it. Replacing the folding top handle was very simple. You basically remove two screws. As you can see from the picture(s) when I went to remove the original part it came down in many pieces. The new part fit perfectly and while I could have ordered it in the original tan/beige color I chose to order in black because I like the contrast. I have also ordered the dome light inner bracket and dome light cover which will be the subject of a later review. These parts are available through Pelican and directly from classic trim parts. I have corresponded with the owner of classic trim parts and he/they are great people with whom to do business..
