I also have this knife in carbon steel blade w/red handle. This knife has a "plastic" handle, yet not just any plastic; it is polypropylene. It will not crack, warp and stands up to chemicals well. It is the same stuff they make our car batteries out of. The blade is razor sharp with a scandi grind. 12c27 steel has a very fine grain therefore easy to sharpen. While I like carbon steel, I have come to appreciate the Sandvick steels. This knife will out perform most knives regardless of the cost. Service was great; received the knife 3-days after I ordered it!
