I have been building rods for over 20 years and have used several components for the butt cap. My personal choice hands down is for EVA. Eva has many different shapes and sizes to choose for each rod. However it is getting increasingly harder to find just the right size and shape, especially the mid size (22-25mm) mushroom shapes. My next favorite is the various colored cork button caps. The other materials and configurations I either have seldom used or not at all. Needless to say, I certainly hope that all forms , shapes and materials available for a long time. David Schaub, TX
