My pretty skates!

I bought these on a whim. I have high end speed skates, but wanted an artistic set for outdoor recreation. I liked that there were refurbished options; I like supporting a small business; I like the color blue, and printed fabric detailing. These arrived within a week of placing the order, in skate-ready condition. I was happy with the lightweight nylon plates since I won’t be skating aggressively. The bushings are soft enough to allow for agility. No complaints about the abec7 bearings or soft outdoor wheels. I’m a size 8, sometimes 8.5, but the 8s are perfect. EU sizing is accurate. I swapped out the laces for some pretty coral pink ones; so far that’s the only change I’ve made. From the time I put these on I did not want to take them off. The suede is soft, the material requires no breaking in and is very comfortable; no hot spots or blisters on my feet. I may replace the interior liner with something that has some arch support, but that’s because my feet are 40 years old, which I cannot blame BTFL for. Over all, a solid pair of fun pretty skates! Excellent for learning in without breaking the bank, since the technical specs are all better than average. I will be recommending BTFL to all of my friends!

Best skate ever

I’ve tried on the big brands and I didn’t like the design, weight, fit, or the vinyl at the $150 - $200 price point. I love the soft leather/suede. I love the feminine look. They are lightweight. I will tell all my people to buy BTFL skates. I’m actually going to suggest to Pete at SK8 Fanatics to become a distributor. I knew going in that I bought the skates for the leather boot and not the components. Out the box, the trucks were a loose which I like. I was able to do decent spins and turns. The wheels are good quality and my ride was smooth. The right wheels didn’t have enough spin and the left wheels did. The right side bearings are a little bouncy and the spins wobble. The plate is okay. I’m only replacing the bearings and adjusting the trucks and my wheels. I’m an intermediate skater, and want to take my ability to the next level. These skates are perfect to improve my skills. I bought the size 7 and have a enough room for cushioned ski socks. My foot measurements are 240mm/9.44in. I purchased the refurbished skates. There were no cosmetic or structural imperfections. They look new. I’m in love with the skates—especially the boot!

I did tons of research and looked at tons of brands. These seemed to be the highest quality for a good price. I was nervous about the refurbished aspect, but the company seemed solid and I did not think they would sell me damaged goods. The skates are PERFECT. I cannot see any flaws (other than oddly one lace is longer than the other?) but they are comfy, they roll smoothly, they are stylish and just all around a high quality skate. I am so happy with my purchase and I look forward to lots of years skating on these bad boys!
