Design defects, don’t buy
Bought the Beartooth early this year, was excited for a summer of Tenkara fishing. Unfortunately, I am 100% convinced this product has design defects that render it useless— the issue is that the end piece is so brittle that you can’t even handle it without it snapping. It’s like raw spaghetti. It snapped on me the first time I attempted to use it, with almost no pressure being applied. Then they were out of replacement parts for 3 months. Kept telling me they’d arrive “any day now”— yeah, right. I assume that the inventory problems are because everyone is needing replacement pieces due to this defect. Anyway, finally one day a replacement end piece arrived, and lo and behold, the end piece snaps again while I’m tying the main line onto the rod. Again, applying almost no pressure. There is no way you could ever fish with this thing. And for what it’s worth, I’ve read other reviews where folks experience was the exact same as mine. Fortunately, the company gave me a full refund even though I was well outside of my 30 day window. I’ve also since learned that they are phasing out the Beartooth in favor of a new ultralight design, probably because of these design defects. I am interested in Tenkara fishing still, but I will not be buying again from this company. Despite lots of great reviews online (which is shocking to me), my experience has me convinced that this is not a real quality rod company, just another gimmicky company jumping on the Tenkara craze. My advice to interested persons is to research what people have been using over in Japan and go with one of those more established brands.

furled lines
I am happy with my purchase. I love using these furled lines on my tenkara rods. Cool colors too!

Love the Sierra
I now have two Sierra rods and this is my go-to line. It just works.
