This is the second chin restof this brand I got, for my second instrument. I love the fit and the aesthetics of it. However, my first chin rest, which I bought from a different retailer, is gold-plated. The gold finish has worn off after several years of use and now I get skin irritation on my neck, where the hardware touches it, so I have to use a cloth to cover it. I hope this one doesn't have same issue since it's pained.

Disappointed
Have bought 4 of the SAS chinrests over the last year. All came with the gold (brass plated) metal mount hardware. Your own website still shows the gold metal mount. Apparently, SAS has switched to a carbon fiber mount instead of the old gold metal mount. Would have been nice to know this before ordering what I expected to be a trusted product. Feels like they are cost cutting. Time will tell. In any event, product was not as advertised.

The "Carbon" hardware color version is plastic hardware
While I like the design of this very much, and while I found it super comfortable, I am immediately returning, because the attaching hardware is made entirely of black plastic. I thought "Carbon" referred to the color, and am amazed that it is flexible plastic. I don't believe it is carbon fiber either, but even if it is, I don't care, because it just flexes and slips off the violin. Who thought that was a good idea? Was it even tested? I've had and installed countless different chinrests over my lifetime. This is the first I've ever seen with plastic hardware. I'm waiting for an answer to my question of whether the mounting hardware of the "Gold" version is metal. If it is, I'll order that one, and update this review.
