First Lessons Violin Book with Online Audio / Video

This book has been very useful, I’m glad I bought it!

Overall, a great book for introduction of strings/notes and applicable songs to practice

Of all the beginner level books that I've purchased, I've probably used this one the most. What's great: The songbook introduces strings and notes on the violin along with how to read music. The pacing is great, and each lesson has an accompanying song or two for you to practice with, so the lessons are still fun. You can also listen and watch a professional play each of the lessons and songs online, as the book provides a link for videos to all lessons. I like to have my tablet out and listen to the song first so I get a feel for the tempo, before I attempt the song myself. Where it could be improved/supplemented: The very basic stuff like holding the violin and bow were lightly touched upon a single page. Items like how to rosin your bow or care for your violin were not included. These weren't a deal breaker for me though, but just know that you may have to look elsewhere to learn these items.

I know nothing about playing the violin, but this book with the downloadable music tracks is very helpful.
